VIOLENCE IN NEWARK

NEWARK CRIMES GETTING OUT OF CONTROL!!!

Essex County is New Jersey's homicide capital. One in three of the state's killings occur in Newark and surrounding towns. But while taking a life is the most serious criminal offense on the books, police and prosecutors have struggled to put murderers behind bars.

In 1996, Newark was ranked "The Most Dangerous City in the Nation. In 2007 the city recorded a total of 99 homicides for the year, representing a significant drop from the record of 161 murders set in 1981. The number of murders in 2008 dropped to 65, a decline of 30% from the previous year and the lowest in the city since 2002 when there was also 65 murders.

In the 2006 survey, Newark was ranked as the 22nd most dangerous city in the United States, out of 371 cities. In the 2007 rankings, Newark was the 20th most dangerous city in America of 378 cities surveyed. In 2008, Newark ranked 24th most dangerous city.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS!

I wasn't born and raised in newark but i have came here and made many friends. I have alot of friends here and everyday it's like a struggle to get out the neighborhood. I have relatives born there and i have relatives and friends killed there. A good friend of mine was shot and killed during a drive by couple of years ago. Every year it's like something else can happen any momment. So it's like leaving your home could be your last because you never know what can happen.
